At present, Wolverhampton Educational Psychology Service is unable to offer work experience placements.

This decision is informed by guidance from the Association of Educational Psychologists (AEP) and the British Psychological Society (BPS). Both organisations highlight important ethical and practical considerations, including the need to maintain confidentiality, safeguard vulnerable children and young people, and uphold professional boundaries. The nature of our work often involves sensitive information and complex casework, which requires individuals to have undergone comprehensive pre-employment checks. These safeguards are not feasible within short-term placements or shadowing opportunities.

If you are considering a career as an Educational Psychologist then work experience opportunities in an education setting, such as a nursery, mainstream school, special school or alternative provision is helpful.

In recognition of the interest in the profession, we offer Educational Psychology Open Events. These sessions provide insight into the role of Educational Psychologists both nationally and within Wolverhampton and offer information about career pathways and the work we do in schools and settings. As part of our commitment to increasing diversity and inclusion within the profession, these events aim to encourage and support individuals from a wide range of backgrounds to consider a career as an Educational Psychologist.
